Although long flights can be a thrilling experience it can also take its toll on our body. Unless you are flying first class, long haul flights are tasking but there are some tips to make the experience more bearable.

Some of the best tips to know when on long haul flights are listed below.

Buy your flight ticket in advance

If you are planning to wait till the flight price drop is not worth the trouble when on a long haul flight. It is best if you get your ticket in advance as it increases the chance that there are enough seats that you can pick whether you like the window seat or you want a seat where you can stretch your legs in the exit row. If you decide to get a ticket last minute, the chances are you will be getting sandwiched in the middle seat.

Avoid carrying too much stuff

Although you can easily carry as much stuff as you like if you have money for the baggage fees. It is advisable not to try this while on a long-haul flight as you can easily get stressed. This means you will need to put your luggage under the seat in front of you and this means less legroom and you will be cramped up in your seat for long hours.

If you are packing light, you might want to consider a secondary, foldable luggage to take home new clothes and souvenirs on your way back home.  This will enable you to roam around more freely during the first few legs of your trip.

Put on your most comfortable outfit

Although you may feel that trendy clothes make you look younger but you should also keep in mind that you will sit and sleep in them for hours which can become less comfortable in the long run. It is best if you wear something that you are comfortable with and can easily move around in it. You should also keep in mind that you will need to guard against deep vein thrombosis on a cozy flight. Deep vein thrombosis is a serious condition that becomes aggravated when you are sitting in a cramped position for a long time.

A great way of staying comfortable while on a plane is by wearing comfortable clothes. By putting on a comfy cloth, you are going to feel cozy and relaxed all through your journey on the plane.

Request for a seat at the Gate

If you are not able to score a great seat on your flight, you can try again while at the gate. If the flight is not full, the gate agent can help you secure a seat at an empty row or in a window and aisle seat where you and your loved one can sit without anybody staying in the middle seat.  Also, check out our article on how to get a free airline upgrade.
